01.20.2017 - Fall 2016 Semester Wrap-Up

TROY, NY – The Engineers concluded their fall semester with a weekend of back to back games requiring overtime, dropping to the Minutemen from the University of Massachusetts before beating the Marist College Red Foxes. This earned the team a 6th place ranking in the ACHA Northeast Region going into the break, with a tremendous overall record of 14-6-0-1. As far as league play, the Engineers only lost a game to each William Paterson and New York University, resulting in a 7-2 record, which was good enough for the 2nd place position.

Highlights from the semester included the program’s first ever victory over the New York University Bobcats on November 18th, which was part of the 2nd of two four-game win streaks that the Engineers would go on.

The spring semester, although shorter, will hopefully be just as successful for Rensselaer. Seven regular season games remain for the Engineers, opening up on a four game stretch at home. SECHL opponents remaining include Marist, William Paterson, Central Connecticut State, and a pair of games against the University of New Hampshire. Following these games the Engineers are striving to participate in the SECHL playoffs, as well as the Division II ACHA Northeast Regionals, which if successful will lead to a birth in the coveted ACHA Nationals.

Thank you for all those who have shown their support during the fall semester, and please continue to support your Engineers in the weeks and months ahead!

Here’s to another great semester!
