After a very successful
2010-2011 season, the Engineers graduated a handful of key senior players. With
the existing core and the addition of quite a few new players, most of whom
were freshmen, the 2011-2012 season started off with a tough game against
number 1 ranked William Paterson University. Off to a rocky start and plagued
by a few major injuries in the first half of the season, the senior leadership
and firepower of Dave Romanchuk, Dave Kampa, Marc Flory, Tom Cooley, and Ryan
O’Neill, along with outstanding goaltending performances from Billy Stuart and
Nick Jones, kept the Engineers on track. With many games coming down to only a
one goal difference, the Engineers fought hard every game and once the team
built up some good chemistry, the season began to turn around. Notable wins
include a 7-4 win over cross-town rivals Hudson Valley Community College, a 6-1
win over Brown, and a season-ending shutout against SUNY Albany 5-0. Finishing
with an overall record of 9-18, the Engineers are looking forward to starting
next season with a solid group of returning core players and a few promising
prospects. The team would like to thank Coach Cooley, Coach Marquis, and Coach
Morris for all of their help this season, as well as all of the graduating
seniors for their unmatched leadership and dedication to the program. Best of
luck next year to David Kampa, Tom Cooley, Ryan O’Neill, Jeff Kayzerman, Billy
Stuart, and Nick Jones.
